Moving from sculpture to sculpture as I walked through Alex Kveton’s studio/gallery, was like following some Joycean “stream of consciousness” in which periodic, individual ideological concepts had been made tangible and “frozen” in space. Unlike the sometimes erratic and illogical stopping points found in Joyce’s writings, however, Kveton’s work appeared to flow smoothly, each manifestation a logical extension of the last conceptual realization. Nothing appeared hesitant, arbitrary. Each sculpted bit of bronze or steel - elegant, graceful, aesthetically delighting the senses - appeared to partake of the beauty and inner sense of its fellows while, at the same time, possessing its own individuality. Interestingly, this sense of fluid continuity occurred whether I moved in one direction -e.g. chronologically - or randomly from work to work. In a sense, they all seemed of a piece, all following a similar logic - and I believe this was so because they were.
